Named after a small Cuban town, it’s believed American engineer Jennings Cox created the original Daiquiri while there in the late 1800s. To cheer up the men working in the iron-ore mines, he picked fresh limes from a tree, squeezed the juice into a glass, added white rum, sugar and crushed ice, and voila! It was an instant hit.
